The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the 6th and 9th of August in 1945, is an event of historical significance as it led to the birth of the Atomic Age. Creating a weapon that could cause the destruction of whole towns leaving nothing but blood on their hands. The dropping of the nuclear bomb was an event designed to end the war as quickly as nations could, taking little consideration of the repercussions it would have on the people. In the hope of destroying enemy military operations thousands of civilians were murdered and only after the bombing did people notice.
Within this event those who created the bomb, those who had been a part of the Manhattan Project, were responsible for half of the destruction. Further having the knowledge that this was the start of something new and could control nations. They knew that once it was out publicly to the world many opinions would form.

The decision to bomb Japan was put into thought as it may force them to surrender earlier, ending the war sooner, rather than risking an invasion which could go on for years. However, people knew that creating an atomic bomb was far more serious than using normal bombs. Taking this into consideration. Japan had been facing bombing raids throughout the war, and due to the firebombing occurring in Kokura the intention to bomb Nagasaki was second thought. Yet creating the atomic bomb and using it was never a second thought. Robert J. Oppenheimer, creator of the bomb said, “we knew the world would never be the same” and he was right. This event changed the world. It brought fear upon nations. It brought new teachings among society, to support it, or to fear it.
