In 1942 scientist Enrico Fermi built the first nuclear chain reactor. The nuclear chain reactor lead to the atomic bomb and nuclear power. In the next paragraphs I will be explaining to you why atomic bombs should be illegal. Nuclear weapons are very expensive, they are terrible for the environment, and they kill a lot of people. Now lets see some facts about nuclear weapons. Atomic bombs are highly expensive to make, upgrade, and maintenance. Study shows that on average the United States spends $34.8 billion on just maintenance, operating and upgrading every year. That’s a lot of money to spend on atomic weapons. If the United States put that money to meals for people living in poverty, those people would have an estimated 75 billion meals. So basically if the United States would stop making nuclear weapons, and put the money into something more productive like feeding the poverty people may have a little of food to put on the table for their families. Money isn’t the only flaw of nuclear weapons, but nuclear weapons destroy lives and homes. The two cities in Japan that have been hit with atomic bombs are Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The atomic bombs provide a great amount of security. If a country with nuclear weapons goes to war with a country without them. The country with nuclear weapons will most likely win. If the United States, for example, didn’t have nuclear weapons and went to war with North Korea which does have nuclear weapons, North Korea would win and there wouldn’t be a United States.
