Usama bin Laden. That is a name that many should and do recognize. Usama bin Laden, also spelled Osama bin Laden, was the leader of a massive terrorist organization known as Al Qaeda. Usama bin Laden was responsible for organizing and preparing dozens and dozens of attacks on America and other countries. Usama bin Laden was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on March 10, 1957. He was named Osama bin Mohammed bin Awad bin Laden. As a young child Osama lived with his father, Mohammed Awad bin Laden, his father was very strict, he wanted all of his children to live in the same house, to follow and very rigid moral code and religious policy. Soon after reaching adulthood the Soviet Union invaded Saudi Arabia and Osama saw it as his duty to defend his country. He joined a special group of Saudi Arabians in the Saudi army the Saudi Arabian army, he joined a special group of Saudi Arabians who were training under U.S. aid, they were known as jihadists. After the Soviet Union had been defeated and pushed back, Osama returned a hero. He and his comrades were known as “Freedom Fighters.” Osama was very disappointed and outraged with what the U.S. had done to his country though. They had taken it over and were using it, however, they felt needed and ignored the people of the country. That is where Osama came to hate the U.S. Osama had every right to hate the U.S.; for what they did. The U.S. needed to pay was Osama’s thought. He formed Al Qaeda. Al Qaeda was Usama bin Laden’s greatest, and his worst, accomplishment. For Usama bin Laden it was a massive stepping stone in his plot for terrorism and his ultimate goal of bankrupting America. For us it and many other parts of the world it was a massive terror that needed to be stopped as soon as it could be. Some top Al Qaeda attacks are of course the World Trade towers attack, with almost 3,000 injured or killed, the original bombing of the world trade towers killing 19 and injuring over 1,000, and a bombing of Madrid trains, 190 died and almost 1,400 were injured.
