Bud Light; a beer company founded back in 1852 by Eberhart Anheuser Adolphus Busch is know commonly known as “our nation’s favorite beer”. Known for producing such light beer that lets us all have a great time, when Bud Light’s Super Bowl commercials come out year after year, viewers can’t help but to laugh. In Bud Light’s 2014 “Yoga” Super Bowl commercial though, many didn't find it very laughable. This video takes on sexist ideas and stereotypes that empowers men over women through their gender roles in the ad. Bud Light uses elements such as the gestures of men and women, the clothing they are wearing and the diction spoken by the yoga instructor in this commercial to try and sell their beer to men, their target market, around the world. …show more content…

Here, in right in society before we even look at the commercial, society is stereotyping yoga by labeling it a woman only practice, which it false. In the very beginning of this commercial when the commercial starts, the stereotype is seen by the class being led by a women and a plethora of women in attendance. What about those women who don’t do yoga or find yoga worthless? This commercial is saying that all women are required to attend workout glass in tight workout clothes because thats what women do to “let off stress”or “free their mind”. Not all women workout and not all women find yoga pleasing so by the room being run to look like what people call a typical yoga class, it causes women to think that they too must go to yoga classes and take part in this …show more content…

In the film, the instructors repeated dialogue of the word “relax” in such a calm and soothing tone cause the men to take on relaxed feeling and place their minds in a relaxing environment similar to what the environment men hope for when just sitting around drinking beer. When the lady kicks them out at the end because she realizes they are their for the wrong reasons, the comment “she’s not very relaxed” is used. Women are not allowed to be relaxed in a time where you are supposed to be relaxed. They are saying that women wouldn't be able to drink Bud Light and be on the same level men are when they are just sitting around drinking beer. This says that no, only men can do that and women must be working out getting the body that the men and maybe even the drunk men
