“The Express” is a true story about Syracuse University football player Ernie Davis, the first African-American football player to win the coveted Heisman Trophy. Ernie Davis is an African American lived with his extended family in Pennsylvania. He grew up with his uncle Will Davis, who has same age as Ernie. I think there are two reasons why Syracuse University erected the statue of Ernie Davis. First of all, Ernie contributed a lot into football career life.
EEOC is the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and their job is to enforce the illegal discrimination of an employee based on race, color, religion, national origin and sex. Several acts fall under the EEOC such as the Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Equal Pay Act, The Age Discrimination Act and the TITLE I of the Americans with Disabilities Act ("Laws Enforced by EEOC," n.d.). Affirmative Action is policies designed to protect individuals that are part of a disadvantaged group, the program is supposed to breakdown barriers so everyone starts on a level playing field ("Affirmative Action," n.d.). Diversity is having a group of people that come from all different backgrounds and beliefs such as age, race, ethnic origin, religion and sexual
“We don't really care about diversity all that much in America, even though we talk about it a great deal” (Brooks 331). Brooks says that we humans think about diversity more as a racial difference which is true, but it is not all about race, religion or ethnicity. Diversity is about any other things such as hobbies, professions, age. Anything that could make one group different from the other. “When we use the word "diversity" today we usually mean racial integration.
Over the next few years North Carolina Central University will be more diverse in the student body because of the world itself is already diversed. NCCU will have more diversity over the next years because of the academics that it provides, the motto that we stand by “Truth and Service” and because of the generous people that work here. Also the professors that teach the students the outstanding knowledge that will lead them and stick with them for the rest of their lives. NCCU was founded by James E. Shepard and opened on July 5, 1910. His reason for building the institution was because in that era in time the support for African American education in the southern states was very limited.
The answer to the first part of the question “Is my organization‘s ethics program working?” I would have to say partially. I say this because the diversity of our main campus verses the branch campuses are totally different. The branch campuses run virtually the same, but the main campus tend to do things much differently than they should. Jeremy S. Hyman and Lynn F. Jacobs explained in an article called “Why Does Diversity Matter at College Anyway?”

Diverse communities are stronger. Diversity means different or unique. Not everyone in the community are exactly the same. There are some of this race, some of that race. Some of people with this type of education, some people with that education.

One of my favorite parts of Rutgers University is the ability to meet people that may live only 20 minutes away but have experiences that are a complete contrast to your own. During my first-year at Rutgers University I thought I knew what diversity was, I was raised in Jersey City, one of the most diverse cities in the nation, so when I came to Rutgers I did not expect to find more diversity. At Rutgers, I have had the opportunity to meet people that are not just diverse in culture but also in age and experience. Here I have met a non-traditional student who graduated almost a decade ago and came back to get a second degree after finding a new passion. I have had the opportunity to grow closer with intriguing people such as a triplet, a professional photographer, and a professor who is deaf but defied the odds
Without a teacher, doctors would not be able to save the millions of lives that they do every day, nor would an engineer be able to lay out a civilization's prospective future, nor would a politician learn to lead and represent—there is a root to all, and education is what fuels the flame of growth and prosperity. The current educational policy and reform is taking the preconceived notion that there is something magical about teaching and assuming that all teachers can teach. For instance, former President Barack Obama’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a revival of the 50-year-old Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA); both fortify the relationship between national law and commitment to ensuring the success of the nation’s students—America’s
Diversity in the united state has been extended to a broader understanding of what diversity really means. Diversity first meaning is that positions should not be segregated by gender. For example a board of directors should have women on the board and there should be a male as the receptionists. Next be the diversity of wide range of ethnicities like Asian, Hispanics, etc., religions national origins, class. For example people from poor and rich should both be represented.
Diversity can be defined as the variety of beliefs, interests, and experiences within groups of people. Redlands’ excellent ethnic diversity reveals statistics with less than half of white majority and more than half of minority students. As a Hispanic female, the word minority has traveled with me constantly. The fact that The University of Redlands encourages all minorities as well as the majority to pursue a future career captivates my attention. Truly, diversity has inspired me of to collaborate and compete with many different cultures and morals.
Diversity may mean different things to different people. To me, diversity is exactly that, being different and unique. Diversity makes the world a beautiful place to be, and full of interesting and different people. The beauty of human civilization lies in its diverse groups and cultures.
My parents are from the same race, African-American. My Dad grew up on the Eastside of Detroit and my Mom grew up on the Westside of Detroit. Everyone on my Dad’s side of the family is Black, however, on my Mom’s side, her mom is Black and her Dad is White. She’s the oldest of three and her younger siblings are White, giving me three White cousins.
