The value of origin is that the article was written by a well-educated author, who has knowledge about the civil war. The value of purpose of this article is to mainly enlighten historians on the aim of feminism before and during the civil war. Female spies (from both the confederate and union sides) did not hesitate one bit to conceal their identities as women, and perhaps forever. Female spies like Edmonds and Boyd could not divulge the fact that they were women after all. The courage of these women to hide their identities forever shows their passion, which impacted the Civil War. Along with soldiers and equipment, another great asset of the two political parties was their spies, mostly comprising
