Introduction
At the dawn of the millennium came the internet and technological boom, not only did many businesses utilize these advances to create a web presence to reach a wider customer base, they also began to integrate new technology into the everyday practices of business. Businesses could now reach more customers and they could also connect with other locations within the organization without ever leaving the office, thus virtual teams were born. While many saw the beginning of a trend, no one really anticipated virtual teams becoming as common place as they now seem to be. With "7,500 people located in 20 facilities in nine countries", it would be difficult to get members together, but thanks to TelePresence technology and the company intranet website "communities of practice (COP)" researchers from different divisions were able to come together and utilize intelligence from the other divisions to create new products. By implementing current technologies and products in new ways they were able to develop products such as "Mr. Clean AutoDry" and "Glad Press'n Seal" (Brown, 2011, p. 264).
