In the recent weather event that we have had in Memphis, TN, I thought a good project would be cleaning up residential properties after frozen pipes burst. The company that I chose for the vision statement is my current employer, ServiceMaster. One of the things that attracted me to this company was the vision statement that they had at the time. Marion E. Wade, the founder of ServiceMaster had a strong personal faith and a desire to honor God in all he did. He viewed each individual employee and customer as being made in God’s image—worthy of dignity and respect (Giants For God, n.d.). ServiceMaster provides a variety of services from home warranties, lawn services, and even disaster restoration. Also, development helps with retention and turnover and even developing a good relationship with their manager. One reason why people leave their jobs is because of a bad relationship with their direct report. No one wants to work for a manager that does not take interest in their employees or even validate the contributions that are made.
