I currently work at St. Elizabeth hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky as a nursing assistant on a medical surgical floor. A mission statement is a phrase that summarizes what a company does and why. This statement helps the organization’s employees to see the focus of the organization and shows how their work can contribute to the organizations goals and values (Marquis & Huston, 2015). Our mission statement at St. Elizabeth is “As a Catholic healthcare ministry, we provide comprehensive and compassionate care that improves the health of the people we serve” (“St. Elizabeth Healthcare,” n.d.). As an employee at St. Elizabeth I look at our mission statement and understand that as an organization we strive to provide the holistic care to the patients that walk through our doors each day. This allows employees to be able to look at a company and decide if their goals line up with the organization’s aspirations. The vision statement at St. Elizabeth is: “St. Elizabeth is the preferred destination for healthcare, where innovative professionals deliver the highest quality of care” (“St. Elizabeth Healthcare,” n.d.). As an employee of this company I think that our vision statement is not as clear and concise as it could be. I do look at our vision statement and focus on the statement of delivering the highest quality of care with innovation, which makes me realize that the company looks at the future as far as practices and
