In this research article, participants who suffer from nonsegmental vitiligo, better known as NSV, were examined in hopes to provide a better foundation for potential research done on the depigmentation and repigmentation patterns of Vitiligo. One of the researchers stated that the aim or purpose of this study was to “identify clinical markers potentially useful to monitor the evolution of vitiligo by means of evaluating purely qualitative changes of vitiligo lesions.” The researchers felt as though most previous studies on NSV have been concerned with only the quantitative study of lesions, not the qualitative properties of them, and that is exactly why they did this study the way they did. The researchers gathered forty-nine females and forty-five males with ages ranging from six to sixty-seven to perform the study on, all of them being white. Each participant gave consent to be in the study and they weren’t paid for it. The study was conducted by sending each of these people to a dermatologist once a month, every month for a year to examine the lesions. By the end of the study, four participants’ results were thrown out because they did not show up to each monthly appointment. This left the study with ninety participants and a total of 360 …show more content…

Therefore, this leaves me wondering if different skin tones lose their pigmentation differently and if data could’ve been provided for this during this study. This study could’ve been a great deal more inclusive and wielded entirely different results had there been a broader group of participants. More results, more pictures, and more accurate numbers would’ve been provided had more types of people been
