Recommended: Role of motivation in the school situation
Abounding numbers of people over the years have just completely failed; however, the fail ended up not being a total loss after all because it ended up leading to a tremendous success. A extraordinary example of a person who was a failure in school, but then continued to be a monumental success in his later life is Steve Jobs. Jobs dropped out of college it just was not for him, after all college is not for everybody. At the time Jobs was doing nothing huge with his life and later he went along to do work with bigger companies. Jobs started doing work with a company that would one day become Pixar Studios he then met his partner for Apple, Steve Wozniak, and worked with him.
I when to high school with a limit amount of help I had everyone in my family tell me I wasn’t going to make it thru high school. It was like motivation to me to pull to high school and succeed and show my family make a goal and finish it. A lot of times I wanted to give up about every other days I did, but the voices was stuck in my head that I can’t do this and that. I filled my goals that I had planned for myself and successfully filled then and when past high school to
I learned that everyone should fail early and often because time is your best asset. from a young age, your greatest asset is not your talent, not your ideas, not your experience, but your time. It is my time to have the opportunity of taking big risks and making big mistakes to learn from later in life because I know they will strengthen me for the future. Focus on current goals and build from every goal you reach until you manage to reach your ultimate goal in life. A goal I recently met was becoming an officer, specifically a supply officer after four years in the NJROTC program.
Tracy says “When you feel that sinking, desperate sensation known as failure and you take it to heart, you diminish yourself” (Tracy). Someone cannot drop out of college due to one bad grade or some bad day. Failure is another opportunity to try again and get better to
Some years later I entered high school; this was a huge slap in my face. I had no clue what I wanted to do with my life. I went through my freshman and half my sophomore year barely passing my classes. About half way through my sophomore year I saw a newspaper ad for a vocational school in the area. I had always cooked at home and loved it
Winston Churchill was quoted as saying, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts” (“Winston Churchill Quotes”). A student may feel like he/ she have failed but, persevere through the rough patch and come out on the other side refreshed and renewed. Today students have peer pressure, financial instability, and academic challenges. They may be just out of high school and still finding their way, a single parent wanting to do the best for their child(ren), or someone full filling a dream from long ago but never had the time.
Failure is not something I am used too. It leaves you with regrets that could tear you apart. One of my biggest regrets was in my senior year. This boy named Joshua Morgan was someone you could call an outsider. He was different than everyone else at Velma.
In High School, there are the types of people who take it seriously and want to be somebody successful, while for other students, school is just a mandatory place in life. While for me, there have been times where I just want to give up and not go to school because I don’t think I’m good enough for it. Although, each and every time I struggle and want to give up, I think about who influences me and why I’m here in the first place. As for me, my mother is somebody in my life who has influenced me.
My marriage and children brought on a whole different set of responsibilities that I needed to tend to. I found myself trying to balance the responsibilities of work and family and I never found the motivation to start school again. To this very day I think a lot about what life would be like if I hadn't dropped out of school and pursued college. As a child I always wanted to be someone of importance, someone who made a difference, so I often found myself questioning, “Where did I go wrong?” I often wonder about how I may have disappointed my parents and how they never got to see me graduate.
When I was in high school, I did not apply myself like I would have liked. I was more focused on boys, friends, and what I was doing later that day. Don’t get me wrong, I was an average student, but I know I had more in me than I actually gave. They say it is a time to prepare you for life, but high school can’t teach you a lesson like trial and error. I had my oldest daughter, Natalie, when I turned 21.
Overcoming failure is something I have had to do my entire life. It became especially relevant when I began my high school career. In my eight grade year I was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Previously I had heard in the news that there was a surge in diagnoses over the previous couple years, and I paid little attention to it. However it became apparent it was an issue when I started having issues paying attention in class and began to struggle with my grades.
High school has impacted my life in so many ways. High School taught me so many things, from personal relationships to creating a relationship with my education. As a freshman, I made a huge amount of mistakes and I regret doing foolish things, but I’ve realized, I was only maturing into the young adult I am today. Freshman year, I was out of focus and I was only trying to find myself. I would also prioritize other things and ignore my parent’s advice, where they would tell me to focus in school and give it my full attention.
The past four years of my life hold both my highest of highs and my lowest of lows. High school can be a very awkward time period in a person’s life. Four years ago, I made the intimidating switch from St. Mary’s School to Algoma High School. There were certain aspects of high school which made me nervous, but academics was not one of them. I learned how to be a responsible student in my earlier years, and school had always come relatively easy to me.
One of my experiences with failure took place when I was in fourth grade. There were many problems accumulated and I was a child who needed people to see if I did my homework or study for the test, because I couldn’t concentrate and was distracted by anything in the room. My brother also had problems that year, he needed more attention because he didn’t get along with his math teacher and my Mom was always after him with the homework; otherwise he would have failed Math at the end of the year. In fourth grade, the teacher that was assigned to us was one of the strict teachers that were in that school
Every journey has a beginning and an end except when it comes to education in which there is not any end you can always learn something new. This particular story starts the same place most people start after graduation, I graduated in 2006 with a choice that many people face go to work or go to school I knew I could not do both so the decision was an easy one to make little did I know it would take me 10 years to go back and how that singe decision shaped the course of my life. I come from a rather large family, I am one of six and the second oldest of three brothers and 2 sisters so as you can imagine it was hard to come by things you wanted and sometimes needed you always had to work hard and sacrifice for your family. I was always lucky
