Some stories reflect real life and can teach us important truths. In the novel Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, Sal is a character who has developed a lot in the story. Throughout the novel, Sal is portrayed as a character who is very determined, and brave. In Walk Two Moons, Sal shows that she was determined to find her mother when she stated that the best possibility for her return is on her birthday. Sal’s grandparents knew her mom passed and took her on a road trip to all the places her mom had experienced, like Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. She also showed bravery at the hardest times like moving and leaving her friends in Bybanks, and living without her mom for a year. She also had some other small things that represented her bravery like how she's not afraid of spiders and snakes that most people like Phoebe were afraid of. One quote that shows bravery is when Sal experiences driving outside of a farm. For example, “I eased the car back onto the road. At the first curve, my heart started thumping. My palms were sweating and slippery on the wheel. I crept along with my foot on the brake, but the road doubled back so sharply and plunged so steeply that even with my foot on the brake, the car was going faster than I wanted it to.” Chapter 41 page 261” This quote shows Sal’s bravery because she faced her fears of driving on scary roads for a very long time while being cautious. Phoebe was a very helpful friend to Sal, she kept her happy by being her first friend when she moved and helped her with many of her problems. Sal also tried to keep herself happy by holding onto memories of her mother. For example, in chapter 6 page 33, Sal says, “We did not pick from the bottom of the vine or from the top. The ones at the bottom were for the rabbits, my mother said, and the ones at the top were for the birds.
