The next successful core competency of merchandising that Wal-Mart possess can be categorized under resources that is heterogeneous. According to Hart (1995), one of the important sources of a competitive advantage is when firm implement a low-cost position that will allow them to use aggressive pricing and high sales volume. Thus, since Wal-Mart’s founder philosophy has always been “Buy it low, stack it high, sell it cheap” there’s no surprise that focusing on pricing is something that is valuable for Wal-Mart (W3).
