The smoke has cleared, the sounds of guns are no longer in the air and families are being united. Some might say this is a time of harmony for the people, but others might say it’s time to rebuilding our great nation. For us, were just getting back on our feet from the Great War, 7 years might feel like a long time, but were still feeling the reputations and the consequences of this war. When I was younger, I read an article about why the nature of war was inevitable. Helmut Moltke wrote “I find the humanitarian striving to lessen the suffering that comes with was completely worthy. Most of the articles said out that Germany would need to pay back these countries for the damage which resulted from the war, even though there would be no way Germany could ever pack back that much money and it would drive their economy to the ground and that’s was what the Allied powers hoped for. One way that the Allied powers believed that they could reduce Germanys power was to reduce the army size. “Article 159…military forces shall be demolished and reduce as prescribed hereinafter.” (Treaty of Versailles) Showing that the way to make Germany weaker about what they did was decease their countries' power by the military. What was not thought about was, if Germany was attacked by another country would they have enough power to fight for themselves? Therefore making Germany extremely vulnerable to an attack. But the goal of taking away Germany’s military strength to possibly revolt against this treaty gives the people a sense of security and through this security there was peace. Germany was also forced to give back all the colonies they have taken or colonized. But most of all this Treaty was enforced to keep the
