William Shakespeare is a very famous play writer and poet, he was born 1564 during the Renaissance and died 52 years later in 1616 (He lived to 52 years old and this is amazing due to the lack of medical advancements). Along with being very well known he had a family consisting of his wife, a pair of twins and one other child. As I said before William Shakespeare is a poet and he wrote plays, he wrote 44 plays in total and over 100 sonnets. One of his plays is the ever famous Romeo and Juliet (fun fact William Shakespeare also acted in his own plays), and majority of his sonnets is love poems dedicated to love.
Romeo and Juliet’s Relevance in Today’s Society Don't waste your love on somebody, who doesn't value it, as said in The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. This play is still relevant today because of how the characters act. This is proven by Romeo, who is impulsive, Juliet, who is disobedient, and Friar Lawrence, who is a people pleaser. To begin, Romeo acts impulsive, as many teens still do in today’s society.
Nate Searle P#1 11/8/16 Shakespeare lived hundreds of years ago why are we still using his words. Well he happens to be the best play writer even to this day. In his time, he wasn't actually the best he was down the list of play writes. We still use his words today, like the plays Romeo and Juliet and plays like that.
Why is Shakespeare relevant today? Shakespeare is relevant today in our modern world because of hip-hop. If he was never born, then there wouldn’t be any signs of hip-hop anywhere in the world. He was also the one to make English language better, and add some new words to learn.
People today still read and watch William Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet because he was the greatest writer in history, his writing includes rich language, and complex characters. This plays a big role in why we still today read about shakespeare. Many people love to read and watch the play of shakespeare. They love to read William Shakespeare because the reader can tend to lead to being in suspense. Leaving the reader in suspense or on a cliff hanger, they would want to keep reading because they are graciously into it the reader wants to keep reading to see what is going to happen next.
How the ideas and themes in Romeo and Juliet are still relevant today. "Romeo and Juliet," William Shakespeare's most famous play, has been captivating audiences for over four centuries. Despite being written in the 16th century, the play's themes and ideas continue to resonate with modern audiences, making it a timeless masterpiece. This tragic tale explores themes such as fate, gender, and language, all of which are still relevant in today's world. The play's portrayal of young love and its challenges, the idea of predetermined destiny, and the consequences of prejudice and hate are all topics that continue to fascinate and provoke discussion among audiences.
Romeo's love for Juliet makes him willing to risk his life to be with her. He says, "With love's light wings did I o'erperch these walls, For stony limits cannot hold love out" (Act 2, Scene 2). This quote shows how love can make people do things they never thought possible. Another reason why Romeo and Juliet is still relevant today is because it deals with the issue of social class.
Shakespeare was an amazing man with his different types of playwriting acting stories. His world and our world right now are very different than it was back then. It's quite weird to think that so many things have changed so quickly during the centuries. Mainly like the plays, and how the theaters were back then. They would have plays in the afternoon, which means in the middle of daylight.
Shakespeare is relevant in today’s world because his inspires people today. For instance “Shakespeare defined our senses of cultures in the first place”. Also Shakespeare made prose, plots, and characters for hundred years that are used today still, that’s why he made the 21st century in our form of culture. Also Shakespeare “suggested that his writing could last when others couldn’t”. For example the movie lion king is similar to Shakespeare play hamlet because when Simba’s father died Mufasa.
Many books showcase the effects of war and discrimination. One that I know of is Snow Falling on Cedars. In this novel, a Japanese man named Kabuo, is repeatedly discriminated against – whether it be in his personal life or in the courtroom. Even his childhood friend, Carl, begins to look badly at him because of his race after he is finished fighting in World War Two. WWII created discrimination against the Japanese with vandalism and nicknames, denied rights, and anti-Japanese organizations.
One reason Romeo & Juliet is still relevant today is that hatred is still present today. Just like in Romeo & Juliet, hatred is still present today throughout the world.
William Shakespeare’s works are still very popular today. He was a poet and playwright, his plays capture the complete range of human emotion and conflict. All his plays consist of brilliant stories. Shakespeare was recognized around the world as the greatest influential poet and dramatists in the English language. He was the founder of modern English, he understood the power of language, its ability to paint landscapes, create atmospheres and compelling characters.
“William Shakespeare’s Impact on Theater” says that “Theater, in particular, has experienced many changes due to his influence,” and without any major influence like Shakespeare to guide the changes of theater, it would be extremely different (Octane 1). Shakespeare introduced many new elements to theater because of how his writing was unique in his time period. Despite this, his writing appealed to many different audiences. For instance, Octane says that “The way in which Shakespeare’s plots move forward has helped define modern play-writing. Similarly, Shakespeare’s complex characterizations have brought forth a new type of storytelling in which characters’ choices drive plots forward” and “His plays were often imbued with universal truths of human existence, rather than acting as mirrors of the privileged life.
William Shakespeare William Shakespeare was an actor, poet, and playwright, but he did so much more than that. He changed psychology, the english language, theater, writing, and created thousands of words we still use today. William Shakespeare wrote and acted in his plays during the Renaissance, which was a time from the 1300s until the 1600s when ideas of society changed. During the Renaissance, a new concept started to form that changed society which was humanism.
In the twenty-first century, the plays of William Shakespeare may at first appear dated and irrelevant: they use archaic language, are set in the age of Kings and Queens, and the Kingdom of England. However, it would be plainly mistaken to construe that Shakespeare’s works do not still remain integral to a twenty-first century society. Shakespeare’s plays gave the words and expressions one uses every day, revolutionized the art of theater as it was known, and forewarned about issues that would unknowingly still apply centuries later. Therefore, Shakespeare has had a profound effect on our lives by enriching our language and culture, as well as providing ideas that would still apply five centuries later, and it would thus behoove us to learn from his works and life.
