In William Shakespeares play The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet Lord Capulet’s actions had a big impact on a lot of the main characters. Lord Capulet, the head of the house, made choices that had a significant impact on those around him. Specifically, his actions affected his daughter Juliet, his nephew Tybalt, and the Nurse. First, Juliet was greatly impacted by Lord Capulet wanting her to marry Paris.

The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is a play set in Verona, Italy where The Montagues and Capulets, two feuding families, reside; their children, Romeo and Juliet, meet and fall in love. Due to their quarreling families, they have to keep their marriage a secret, because they know that their families will forbade them to be together, which in the end results in their deaths. Lord Capulet is the main culprit of Romeo and Juliet’s death because he did not remove Romeo from the party, he threatens to disown Juliet if she does not marry Paris, and he moves the wedding date of Juliet and Paris from Thursday to Wednesday.

The setting was transposed from 1300s Verona, Italy to 1990s “Verona Beach,” which has a Los Angeles vibe. The change of the time period and setting where the biggest changes to the text, yet the reason begin the changed showed how relevant Shakespeare's text can be. Luhrmann immediately shows the audience that this is not going to be Shakespeare's time. From the first shot and solique, the audience immediately knows though the language is Shakespeare the setting is ours, making the audience think about their society. Luhrmann never stops using Shakespeare's text to reflect his time.

This is shown on Act 2 Scene 1 when Tybalt is killed by Romeo which led to Romeo being banished.
The play Romeo and Juliet values use of influence, which helps many characters get through difficult times, the importance of influence is shown in this quote, “The key to success leadership today is influence not authority,” (Ken Blanchard). The Characters that influence Romeo throughout the play have no authority over Romeo, what makes them a good leader is their influence. In Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, Romeo faces many challenges, but through the influences of Benvolio, Friar Laurence, and Juliet, He is able to overcome them. Benvolio is a trusted companion and this allows him to influence Romeo to get over Rosaline, Get away after the fight with Tybalt, and to save Him from death with his explanation to the prince. For instance, Benvolio influences Romeo is by telling him to stop thinking about Rosaline and to look at other women at the party.

Men took the roll of the female parts of the play that were performed. And he lived in the time of when Queen Elizabeth was around. His life was mainly about himself for example, he never stumbled on to joining college because he wanted to keep on writing plays and poems.

William Shakespeare is known for many things such as famous plays of Romeo and Juliet, and not giving stories happy endings. In my opinion Shakespeare is a great author. It was known that Shakespeare lived from April 26, 1564, to April 23, 1616. He was also known for having one wife, one daughter, one set of twins even though one of them died.
