William Shakespeare is a well known English poet, playwright and actor, and is widely regarded as the greatest writer of the English language and the world’s preeminent dramatist. He is often called England’s national poet and the “Bard of Avon.” Shakespeare wrote several other plays that were very successful and popular. He wrote a very famous play called Romeo and Juliet that was published in 1597. One of which is Hamlet, which is the story of the prince of Denmark. No one knows exactly when Hamlet was written, but people speculate that it was written between 1599 and 1602. A lot of the main areas of Shakespeare’s works include comedy, history, tragedy, and poetry are still being used today. They also tend to be the main focus of English literature today. This movie is very close to Romeo and Juliet, and it even has some of the same characters and their names. One of the key issues in Romeo and Juliet are the Capulet and Montague families. These two families are the ones who have been fighting for many years and are fighting throughout most of the play and the movie.
In the movie, there are two ways to identify the families. First, they were represented by the colors of red and blue. The reds, were the Capulets, and the blues, were the Montagues. Like the two families in the play, the reds are not supposed to interact with the blues and the blues are not supposed to interact with the reds. There was always constant bickering and fighting throughout the whole movie between the two families; the only people who stopped the fighting were Romeo and Juliet.
