Normally humans fall in love, not garden gnomes and zombies. Using film techniques the films, Gnomeo & Juliet and Warm Bodies present their protagonists in the same way. The protagonist in Gnomeo & Juliet, Gnomeo, is presented similar to the protagonist in Warm Bodies, R. In the film Gnomeo & Juliet, Gnomeo is presented as a young adventures protagonist that all the blue gnomes look up to. Gnomeo is presented similar to Romeo in the play Romeo & Juliet.
Romeo and Juliet, a play written by William Shakespeare, and Gnomeo and Juliet, a movie inspired by the play, have numerous differences and similarities with the characters, setting, and plot. Firstly, Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet compared to the movie, Gnomeo and Juliet have many variations and similarities regarding the characters in each story. For example, a similarity between both stories is that they both have the same characters. They both have a character named Tybalt, Juliet, Paris, and Benny is a nickname for Benvolio.
I already knew the story of Romeo and Juliet, but the new twist with the gnomes is well found. Like this the whole family can enjoy a remake of a classic story written by Shakespeare. The movie is very humorous, well-paced, exiting and of course romantic. It really outshines in its hilarious visuals.
Hunting is fun for some people, until you're being hunted. “The most dangerous game” is a short story written by Richard Connell. Zaroff demonstrates that he is confident, anxious, talented. First Zaroff is a very rich individual, i know he is talented because on ( pg.221) Rainsford was describing how big and nice zaroff house was “It was a huge, beam-ceilinged bedroom with a canopied bed enough for six men that Rainsford followed the silent giant.” Another way Zaroff is very rich because he also has his own island where he hunts more than just animals.
In times of bloodshed and malice, do you stay devoted to your family and companions or do you pursue the love of your life? These are the questions Romeo and Juliet, our protagonists and lovers, had to ask themselves consistently throughout the play. Romeo and Juliet is a classical theater piece that addresses forbidden love amongst the freights of war between two households, the Montagues and the Capulets. That being said, there have been abundant amounts of renditions featuring the same scenarios. This essay will be analyzing and contrasting how well the 1996 version of Romeo and Juliet and the movie Gnomeo and Juliet correspond to Shakespeare's original
In Act 5 scene 3 both Juliet and Romeo die for each other which lead to no happy ending. Gnomeo and Juliet is more a child movie and was directed towards younger children. The mood of this movie was happy and vengeful with some humor in it.
Gnomeo and Juliet is a spin off of Romeo and Juliet, the play. Some of the differences may be a result of the movie being aimed at children while the play is usually read in highschool and not read by preschoolers. The basic plot is the same; likewise, some famous lines in the play are noticeable in the movie. To fully understand the similarities and differences, it is necessary to know who or what in the movie resembles who or what in the play. Juliet and Romeo are easily identified as Juliet and Gnomeo.
After the transition to gnomes, viewers cannot relate to the characters and they lose much of their empathy towards them. Converting the characters to gnomes also brings comedy to the story through some of the activities that the gnomes participate in. Activities such as lawnmower racing makes the story more comical and veers away from the tragic nature of the original story. While the gnomes in Gnomeo and Juliet have the same personalities as the humans in Romeo and Juliet, the transition into gnomes takes away from the serious and calamitous essence of the original story. The second major difference between Romeo and Juliet and Gnomeo and Juliet is the characters not dying in Gnomeo and Juliet.
The animated tale Gnomeo & Juliet is a children oriented movie which adapted from William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy work, Romeo & Juliet. The story is introduced to the audience by a little gnome reading a prologue on a stage with a lighting focuses on him, saying "The story you are about to see has been told before. A lot. And now we are going to tell it again. But different.
Shakespeare’s original work has multitudinous more mishaps dealing with tragedy and death in comparison to Gnomeo and Juliet where no one actually dies. This aspect is the most prominent difference of them all. However,
First, a similarity between the movie and play is that both families/groups live in Verona. Romeo and Juliet takes place in the city of Verona, Italy. On the other end in Gnomeo and Juliet, the two families live on Verona Avenue. A second similarity is that in both movies, Romeo trespasses into the enemy’s territory.
In the movie Gnomeo expresses the same feelings when talking with Juliet “we can't keep doing this, our families have been fighting forever. We will never been able to be together because our parents wont allow it”(Gnomeo & Juliet). Romeo changes his mind throughout both the movie and the play about the reds/capulets. At the beginning he doesn't like them but ends up falling in love with Juliet and that changes his mind. They were different because the way Romeo and Juliet died.
The movie Gnomeo and Juliet did portray Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet accurately with a few minor detail changes. The family feud was the same in both the movie and Shakespeare’s play where the Montagues and Capulets did not get along based on unknown reasons. This was shown in Gnomeo and Juliet in the beginning of the movie where they had a lawnmower race. Tybalt, a Capulet, was racing Gnomeo, a Montague, on lawnmowers and Tybalt cheated and broke Gnomeo’s lawnmower. This scene represented the families rivalry because it showed how the families disliked each other and were willing to do anything to win even if they had to cheat.
In my U.S. History class, my teacher has an image of The Mona Lisa because there some history behind the picture. For example, who drew The Mona Lisa? Well, it was Leonardo da Vinci. Also, this portrait is one of the most famous portrait during the Renaissance. Back then wealthy people, like kings; nobles; etc., were able to afford the portrait, but now most people can afford it.
Romeo and Juliet is a play written by William Shakespeare, originally published in 1597. It is a tragedy of two star-crossed lovers, who fall in love with each other despite their families hate. The play is taught in many schools and it is often coupled with a movie adaption of the play. There have been many movie adaptations of Romeo and Juliet done and yet there are only a few out of the five I have watched that I would recommend. The top one that I would recommend is the 1968 version, directed by Franco Zeffirelli.
