Firstly, Shakespeare’s play, Romeo and Juliet compared to the movie, Gnomeo and Juliet have many variations and similarities regarding the characters in each story. For example, a similarity between both stories is that they both have the same characters. They both have a character named Tybalt, Juliet, Paris, and Benny is a nickname for Benvolio.

Romeo and Juliet could not be together because they have an existing dispute among the Montagues and Capulets. “The Titanic” is a movie that narrates the love story of Jack and Rose on a ship. On the course of the movie, their love was completely forbidden by Rose’s family because they were from different classes.

The basic plot is the same; likewise, some famous lines in the play are noticeable in the movie. The sun glistened in the daybreak and a dark figure appeared on the foreground, and moved gracefully across the pathway, nearing the bench that presided at my side. My eyes scoured upward as he neared and the sun blinded me, but not before I saw the figure, a man, glance my direction and change his course. He was wrapped in an opaque tunic that countered the illuminated color of his hair, it was a halcyonic gold that glistened against the flare of day. His trousers were khaki color that exalted the man’s frame. Once my eyes cleared and I was able to open them the man was closer than before and I was able to see his face much more clearly.
The story of ‘Romeo and Juliet' is indeed a tragedy assured from the elements such as Character Flaws, Fate and Great Sorrow. The important element that makes a Shakespearean play is Character Flaw's since it directly affects the character's actions and abilities. The role of Fate is a crucial part of this tragedy play since it links with everyone within the story. Great Sorrow in this play are portrayed in a variety of ways, but specifically death. In fact, throughout the play, these three elements if you think about it are in every single Shakespearean tragedy.
The movie Gnomeo and Juliet did portray Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet accurately with a few minor detail changes. The family feud was the same in both the movie and Shakespeare’s play where the Montagues and Capulets did not get along based on unknown reasons. This was shown in Gnomeo and Juliet in the beginning of the movie where they had a lawnmower race. Tybalt, a Capulet, was racing Gnomeo, a Montague, on lawnmowers and Tybalt cheated and broke Gnomeo’s lawnmower. This scene represented the families rivalry because it showed how the families disliked each other and were willing to do anything to win even if they had to cheat.
Their act implies death, however they end up alive. This is where the two stories differ. But both have the same effect in the plot. Romeo and Juliet’s death end their families long lasting feud. The Montagues and Capultets come together and the zombies and humans decide to help each other out.
