Imagine a person standing before the President of the United States of America, listening to him give a long, boring speech, and then he turns and asks them a question. So they tell him that the speech sounded great, except he did not accurately say, “Ham can only to eaten on Christmas.” Not only do they receive applause for correcting the President, but then they receive a promotion to a high position in the white house. Reb Saunders not only leads a group of Hasid Jewish rabbi, but also holds himself in high esteem with his synagogue and his community, but he infrequently mingles with outsiders. One day, he meets Reuven Malter, the friend of his boy Danny, and Reuven, in front of all the synagogue congregants’, points out a mistake in Reb’s
In his commencement speech at Kenyon College in 2005, David Foster Wallace was tasked with the responsibility of imparting some wisdom onto the graduating class. Wallace’s message to a room of full soon-to-be college graduates at the precipice of the of their impending true adulthood, he offers them a message that cuts through the mess and concisely delivers a message that many would ironically overlook, which is for the students to realize that at times, imperative life lessons are not only the ones that they cannot conceive or believe, but the ones that are obvious but hard to acknowledge let alone discuss. The lesson in this is that no matter how instinctive that cynicism is, it is imperative that people must try to more honest and open
My name is Stephen Gaetano and I’m a student in the Civics course this summer. This speech is about my hero of democracy - Pierre Elliot Trudeau, and his involvement in creating democracy in Canada. The 15th Prime Minister of Canada, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, held this position for 15 years. Prime Minister Trudeau started his career as a lawyer in Montreal, and was an activist in Quebec’s political system. In the 1960s, he joined the Liberal Party of Canada, and took charge of the Liberal Party in 1968.
Brian Stokes Mitchell a Tony and two-time Drama Desk winner star of Ragtime, Man of La Mancha, and Kiss me, Kate came to Ball State University to inform the Theatre Majors of his life, his career, his acting and singing technique, and lastly how to break into the business. Brian Stokes Mitchell started off with speaking on his career taking us back to the first moments and how he connected his whole career though one decision and connection. Brain taught me that saying yes to opportunities can get you further than you think and by allowing yourself to make those connections with people can lead you in the right direction when trying to elevate your career and be successful in the entertainment business. Q2 Making it on Broadway, Television, and Film may look easy to break into, but it actually takes hard work, sacrifice, and dedication to
For this concept map of Of Mice and Men, I chose to focus on the theme of Prejudice. This theme is constant throughout the novel, and it affects multiple groups of people. I chose to focus on three men: Lennie, Crooks, and Candy. Lennie Small is introduced in the story as one of the novel’s two main protagonists. Contrary to his last name, Lennie is in fact, tall, large and very strong.

Lou Gehrig’s speech, Farewell to Baseball Address, delivers an emotional punch to the gut as he explains about how lucky he is to have had a wonderful life with some amazing people. He states “I might have been given a bad break, but I have much to live for,” infers his will to live. Because of his positive standing with his fans and many other baseball players, Gehrig was able to utilize effectively ethos throughout his speech. Ethical proof is dependent upon the rhetor’s reputation among his audience and other people; for Gehrig, his reputation was one of a hard-working and determined man and so his audience already held favor with Gehrig.
After Obama’s farewell speech many Americans had negative comments to share about the former President of the United States, but the media did their best to keep these comments under wraps. Now, we have uncovered a letter written by a marine who wishes to be called “J.” He had something to say to Barack Obama about his so-called “legacy.” His letter read: Mr. President, “For the first time I can say that I’m proud of my country.” No, these aren’t my words, they’re the words of your wife when you took office in 2009.

Greetings President Lightstone, Deans, Faculty, and to all the beautiful faces seated before me. Thank you for this nerve-racking, headache inducing, gut-wrenching opportunity to address the graduating class of 2015. In spite of the aforementioned pains, I have to deliver this speech with utmost confidence and such conviction that what I have to say could be of great benefit or have most of you here at a complete loss. I shall gain most of your attention just by standing here and admitting that I have absolutely no idea what I am doing. Nevertheless, it is with great hope that my message be grasped, that there will be a laugh or two and maybe even some tears.
