United States vs. Nixon was a case brought to the Supreme Court in 1974, questioning whether or not President Nixon was involved in the Watergate Scandal. The Supreme Court declared he was not above the law and required him to hand over tapes they believe had evidence on the event. President Nixon, instead of handing over the tapes, resigned and his Vice President, Gerald Ford was signed into office. The case of United States versus Nixon was important in that it reaffirmed checks and balances and defined the powers of Executive Privilege.

Nixon had been connected to the Watergate Scandal. It was several burglars who had been arrested in the office of the Democratic National Committee, located in Washington, D.C.The prowlers had been connected to President Nixon’s reelection campaign where they had been stealing important documents. Nixon aggressively took action in order to cover the crime.

On June 17, 1972 members of Nixon 's Committee to Re-Elect the president (known as CREEP) broke into Watergate headquarters and stole top secret documents and bugged phone lines. When security guards found that the locks have been taped shut they call the police who later found the men hijacked the phones. The police were able to find little trace back to Nixon.

While the Watergate Scandal and the Mueller investigation are distinctive from one another, they are parallel in certain aspects. In both administrations, both presidents have been accused of manipulation of their respective 1972 and 2016 elections in order to secure their presidential victories. Moreover, both scandals have reflected poorly on Nixon and Trump and have left blemishes on their legacy as presidents of the United States by generating suspicion and distrust of political processes. In general I would say Richard Nixon was a fairly decent president. During a time where there were many protests amongst the American public (especially the youth) against the troops in Vietnam, Nixon was able to pull the troops out of the war. Nixon also reduced the tensions with the Soviet Union, and helped China join the United Nations. He also helped decrease the amount of racial discrimination by segregating schools in the south. It is a shame though, that those achievements of his are not acknowledged because of the Watergate Scandal.

On July 17, 1972, the Watergate hotel, the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee, was broken into by five men. After being caught, it was found that these men carried top of the line surveillance equipment. It was also found that these men had ties to the committee to re-elect Nixon as President of the United States, and this discovery eventually led to the ironic impeachment of President Nixon. Although the Federal Bureau of Investigation investigated the break-in, it was Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward, two common reporters from the Washington Post, who cracked this case wide open. This team, nicknamed Woodstein, went above and beyond, not only covering the break in, but traced why it occurred all the way up to the white house.

This scandal took place at the Watergate buildings that are located in Washington D.C. (History.com). This was only three years after Nixon became president and at this time he was running for his second term.

He said in his speech that he wanted to drive out the Vietnamese forces and destroy their supplies in hopes of stopping the war from expanding. The Teapot Dome Scandal was the first major political scandal in United States history. The incident was so extreme that stress from the backlash even lead to the death of President Warren Harding. The republican party was shown as being incredibly corrupt during this incident, yet somehow, Calvin Coolidge, the republican candidate, won the election of 1924, just three years after the scandal. The Teapot Scandal, along with the split democratic party, led to Coolidge’s success in the 1924 election.
Since I was six, I’ve had my life after graduating college planned out. I would choose a job that I loved, and once my husband and I are successful in our careers, I would have two beautiful little girls. I would get to dress them up like dolls, and they’d look as adorable as I was. I wouldn’t be as protective as my mom, I would let my daughter go to any of the sleepovers she wanted to go to. My daughter wouldn’t have to listen as her friends’ made plans, wishing that she could be included as well.
