Since I was six, I’ve had my life after graduating college planned out. I would choose a job that I loved, and once my husband and I are successful in our careers, I would have two beautiful little girls. I would get to dress them up like dolls, and they’d look as adorable as I was. I wouldn’t be as protective as my mom, I would let my daughter go to any of the sleepovers she wanted to go to. My daughter wouldn’t have to listen as her friends’ made plans, wishing that she could be included as well. I would not be like my mother, of that I was determined. My naïve six year old mind did not understand how dangerous it was to be a female in America. Once I turned sixteen, however, my views on life plan changed. I still wanted to be successful,
