When creating a website there are multiple design elements that are placed together to produce the functioning website. These elements can include: colour scheme, use of graphics, layout of contents, navigation, fonts and features. During this assignment the three elements that will be investigated will be colour scheme, navigation and fonts. For example, most websites have a navigation bar which allows the audience to find different pages within the website. Navigation on a website can be used in multiple ways. Another example is the process of purchasing an item off a website. Every stage of purchasing that item is a different aspect of navigation, from viewing the item to clicking confirm purchase.

The font size and style is less important than the previous elements stated but it still has the ability to change the effect the website has on people. For example, if I very small and squished together font is used, the audience will not be able to easily read through the website. However, if a clean and spacious font is used the audience can view the website with ease. The most common font used is narrow-lined and san serif, these creates a sleek text with not too many lines.

Different fonts will be tested and compared to find out what is the simplest and easiest to read. Due to the website being a fashion product store customers need to be able to read the description of what they are purchasing with ease so they do not get angry and go to a different website. The colour scheme will also have to be tested within my website because the colour scheme needs to match the style of clothing I am selling. If colourful and summery items are sold I need to create a vibrant and fresh looking website. Lots of light and fluoro colours will be used to carry out this idea. Through the creation of my product navigation will be coded and tested to see what works best for a fashion store. Customers want to buy clothes with ease, therefore the navigation through the website needs to be quick and simple so anyone of any age can use the site. The section of purchasing the clothes will be mainly focused on it needs to flow step by step. Other fashion sites will be viewed and analysed so that I can see what does and doesn’t work. The same technique that are found in these sites will be applied to my website so it flows sufficiently.
