Today’s society is a global business society. Organizations all over the world, both big and small, expand outside of their primary countries of operation to participate in the global business world, supplement their domestic operations, and achieve their operational and financial business goals. This can be illustrated through an examination of efforts at global expansion by lumber company, Webster, Inc., which is looking for a nation in which to expand in order to overcome a slump in the last few years that has occurred by doing business in Canada and the United States. Developing recommendations for this expansion can help ensure that Webster, Inc. meets its financial and operational goals, despite the recent slump. The purpose of this essay is to identify a global market for Webster, Inc. to enter and recommend a strategy for implementation in this new market. It is hoped that this information can be used to develop a justification for expansion into Mexico.

According to the Government of Canada (2017), “The CMP, established in 2004, aims to promote collaboration between the public and private sectors and operates through a series of working groups covering: energy; agri-business; labour mobility; human capital; trade, investment and innovation; environment; mining; and forestry” (para. 2). Since there is a well-established agreement between Canada and Mexico, which includes trade and forestry, it is logical that Webster, Inc. would be able to enter the market easily in order to expand its business
