Task 1 This piece of paper states the purpose of the text assumed. The task 1 is a story about a woman called Catherine Morland who has supposed that she was born to be hero. The story tells about the stupidity of the girl as the story aims to entertain its respective readers. The story is in the past tense and is written in third person narration. The text 2 is about the recipe of a dish named COSTATA alla PIZZAIOLA. Thus, it represents the various ingredients for the preparation of the dish. The language of the recipe uses the imperative verbs for e.g. add, heat, trim and many more. It contains the slogan that the ‘After fears of hard Labour and a long, painful delivery, the news the nation’s been waiting for.” (The Sun, 2015)The statement already shows the unfairness towards the labour party and shows its favour towards conservative party. The language of the article shows strong opinions as well as the biasness regarding conservatives. Since the article uses the terms such as ‘appalling labour’, ‘wrecked labour’, ‘nightmarish labour’ etc, it is a controversial language that represents the degree of the criticism of the newspaper about the labour party. It presents the negativity about the labours. However, the article being on the first page does not shows any evidence of the awfulness of the labour or about the nightmarish labours. Thus this represent the biasness of the newspaper and they are being subjective that is by publishing the article on the first page. Thus, the title ‘nightmare on downing street’ is actually a play taken from the words of the movie named ‘nightmare on ELM Street’. This clearly shows the newspapers’ point of view on the subject of the SNP which is getting with the government alongside the labour party. The article states that how to gather the people of the British and make them united against their labour-SNP government’s nightmare prospect (The Daily Telegraph, 2015). These types of the statement shows that are newspaper are biased in terms of the politics and are totally in favour of the conservatives and their respective government. The article also indicated towards the MP Sir John major is views about the probability of the SNP- labour government. According to him, the nightmare prospect is the one that will tear the nation in two parts, as the rich people will be against the poor people. The language that has been used within the article intentionally persuades the one reading, in opposition to the labour and the SNP.
