The book Sharks In The Time of Saviors by Kawai Strong Washburn is written with each chapter being a different first person perspective within multiple of the important characters. We hear the story through each of their own eyes. Each major character gets to express their feelings to the reader in a way that no one else in the story would understand. The chapters get traded off between Malia, Nainoa, Kaui, Dean, and the last chapter of the book Augie.
Imagine, a 22.5 feet long killer whale that weighs 12,000 pounds, slammed and dragged a person in the water who only weighed 125 pounds. The image is gruesome but that’s what happened to SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau. A respected 40 year old who fought hard to stay alive against the largest orca in captivity. Accordingly to witnesses Tili (short for Tilikium), the Orca went wild during the Dine with Shamu Show, then attacked and killed Dawn. The event shocked everyone because Orcas are usually very friendly but Dawn Brancheau was the third victim of Tilikium.
I think that SeaWorld is an amazing facility. I love the fact that they rescue sea creatures from their inevitable death. I love the fact that children love to come here. I love the fact that this place causes children to subconsciously learn something. I love to bring my kids here on the weekend to watch the shows that the trainers put on with the orcas.
Dylon. G Mrs.Hornseth Period:4 Bottlenose Dolphins The history and traits and what a dolphin looks like is what this rough draft is going to be mainly about. Dolphins have a big reputation for having lots of curiosity. Some people thought that dolphins were smarter than humans considering that they have more lumps and a bigger brain.
The whale seems to look out at the viewer and crying painfully out for help, because it knows it cannot escape the Japanese. Moir drew the whale with only a trickle of blood protruding from its back when in real life the whale would die instantly and in an inhumane and gory way. This allows the cartoonist to emote a greater sympathetic reaction as the whale is staring with big blue eyes at the viewer. The diner’s plates are particularly large for their small portions of whale, which let the viewer, presume that there was a larger amount of whale eaten.
Why Hubris is Humanity’s Greatest Enemy in Manhunt: Unabomber Hubris, when a person becomes excessively prideful, is humans’ greatest nemesis and challenge. This is demonstrated with the character Ted Kaczynski in the television series Manhunt: Unabomber directed by Andrew Sodroski. Kaczynski’s main goal is to have his “manifesto” published across the world which becomes the main proof the FBI has on the identity of the Unabomber. Additionally, during the courthouse hearings, Kaczynski finds out that his lawyers are pursuing the insanity appeal without his consent in which was the greatest instance of his hubris being shown. Ted Kaczynski’s meticulously crafted plan of terror is fueled by his hubris, ultimately resulting in his capture.
The Great White Shark The Great White Sharks, known mostly because of their white underbellies, are one of the most powerful aquatic animals in the world. They can swim at about 25 Miles Per Hour (40 Kilometers per hour) because of their strong muscles and forceful tails. In addition to that, male Great Whites can grow around 11.5 to 13.1 feet long, while females can grow from 14.8 to 16.4 feet long. This paper will demonstrate how Great White Sharks are an important part of their ecosystem, how their diets work and will adequately describe their habitats. As predators in their ecosystem, Great White sharks help maintain the coral reefs and seagrass habitats.
Humpbacks are baleen whales that use bristles to filter their food out of mouth fuels of seawater. Their diet consists mainly of plankton and krill, as well as small schooling fish. Whales, include the largest animals in all of life on Earth, and are a curtail part of the ecosystem today. They have high metabolic demands and when they were in larger populations, before industrial whaling, whales would have had a strong influence on marine ecosystems, even greater than today. They play several environmental roles including, consumers of several species, prey to large bodied predators, reservoirs of nutrients, and detrital sources of energy and habitat in the deep sea.
It is a common misconception of natural instinct and imaginative onlookers; these whales are not people they are wild marine life. It is no secret that killer whales have a bad reputation, however what earned the reputation was sheer unintentional killings. Orinus Orcas are wild marine life that should not be prosecuted like human beings, and the name “Killer Whales” is the result of false

In 2000, a mass stranding of whales in the Bahamas revealed hemorrhaging near the brain, ear, and fats in the head from a sonar used by the U.S. Navy during an exercise (National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration and US Department of the Navy 2001). In 2002, another stranding occurred in the Canary Islands and pathologists examined the bodies of stranded beaked whales to reveal hemorrhaging in the same areas of the head as the whales from the Bahamas, as well as in the kidneys (Fernández et al. 2005). Upon further inspection, there seemed to be other complications, such as lesions and embolisms, in the vessels and tissues surrounding organs. Fernandez et al.
Healthcare organizations are facing many challenges as they strive to deliver high-quality care to patients. Healthcare has become complex with increasing regulation demands and increasing cost that make providing quality, safe care, difficult, time-consuming and prone to errors. The goal of healthcare is to provide faster, better and cost effective care while producing better patient outcomes. According to Carr, “Seeking convenience, speed, and efficiency, we rush to off-load work to computers, without reflecting on what we might be sacrificing as a result”. The sacrifice is reducing the human interaction.
The whale is white and for Ishmael, whiteness can represent both good and evil, which appalls him because there is no clear answer to what white ultimately means. Ishmael states how many cultures around the world associates whiteness as a sign of nobility, royalty or leadership, but at the same time, whiteness holds this other dimension that links to the spiritual world. He points how the white holds a supernatural quality due to the absence of color and its rarity to find white in its purest form in nature, thus emphasizing the point that the whale is an element that is not seen and is unclear because it cannot be found anywhere on earth due to its hue. This supports how Moby Dick is not found in years because his color is a rarity in nature, it is difficult to find a species of that form in the ocean. It is because, “…that its indefiniteness it shadows forth the heartless voids and immensities of the universe, and thus stabs us from behind with the thought of annihilation, when beholding the white depths of the milky way?”
The whale tooth is a very significant representation of ancestry and leadership. The whale tooth is a large part of ‘whale rider’ as it is connected or linked to many other important events and people that play a large part in the film. The whale tooth is a representation of the Maori people who shaped and built their religion and community, as well as being a representation of Paikea and many other traits that would be needed by a chief, many of which, Paikea has.
