Shakespeare is a well known man born in (1564-1616) who is mainly known for writing, but he had many accomplishments. His most famous works were Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, Macbeth, and A Midsummer Night's Dream. After the death of Queen Elizabeth I, his company was awarded a royal patent by the new King Jame I and Shakespeare changed his company name to King’s Men. He completed his play Romeo and Juliet which was a hit in 1596. By 1598, his name was appearing everywhere and back then they didn’t give that much credit for writers. His company was Lord Chamberlain’s men and later changed to King’s Men. In 1559, they built their own theatre, the Globe on the south banks of the River Thames. In all he wrote 37 plays. In 1600’s he produced romantic plays like Cymbeline. Hamlet was based on a famous Scandinavian legend called Amleth. Many of his plays were based on historical accounts, dramatised by Shakespeare, he also dramatised stories from original writers such as Plutarch and also Holinshed. Also in 1592 he established himself as a performer and had written at least 3 plays. He was so famous in his day, London was a vigorous city of somewhere between 150,000 and 200,000 inhabitants. These people probably got his interest on the stage, and he have entered the London theatre world though contacts made with them in Stratford.
No one knows why Shakespeare left Stratford for London, or what happened before becoming a famous actor. There are many stories about the 'lost years' between 1585 and 1592, a time when no one knew what he was doing.
Shakespeare attended the Stratford grammar school and learned the standards. But unfortunately he had to quit school at the age of 13 to help his father John financially. Shakespeare got most of his wealth in real-estate purchases in Stratford and bought the second-largest house in town, New Place, in 1597.
Also his death is unknown. And historians are still trying to find the cause of his death. Stratford Parish Register records Shakespeare’s burial on the 25 April, 1616. As a famous writer and actor he was buried inside Holy Trinity Church beneath a stone slab engraved with his epitaph.
