This can be overwhelming and it is typically related to financial problems, family problems, personal responsibilities or even work pressures. Many individuals working in the medical field deal with high levels of stress as well. The challenges graduate nurses face transitioning into the healthcare environment are highlighted. Furthermore, I’ll be discussing how they encounter severe challenges in their workplace due to factors such as: increased number of patients, lack of mentorship to new nursing graduates and workplace bullying. Modern hospitals tend to see a large volume of patients. In many hospital industries, a high number of experienced staff is unavailable to assist fresh nursing graduates. The experienced staff are leaving due to retirements, increased workloads, limited resources, lack of upward mobility, and increases in ambulatory opportunities. As a result, hospitals are often unable to provide experienced staff as mentors to direct new graduate nurses. Moreover, this can create a strain on new nurses in the medical field as it can significantly affect a nurses performance when handling a patient.
