In the first half of twentieth-century, two spectacular brutality rulers, Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin, had enormous impact on human’s history and obtained exceedingly negative comments among people. This essay will analyse these two tyrannical leaders by comparing the ideas, social circumstances and objective of their actions as well as following historical consequences.

Before the two leaders came into power, both Germany and Russia (Later USSR) had huge social contradictions within the countries. Because of the defeat in WWI, Germany bore burdensome obligation of reparation, which led to the further inflation and high unemployment rate. Moreover, the new government tended to support both democratic and socialist ideology, but it remained unpopular due to the cession of territories. In contrast, Russia was also under the separating between different social classes who attain great hatred between each other. WWII resulted in the death of at least 40 million people along with over 6 million European Jews who were exterminated during the holocaust. The “Great Leap Forward” conducted by Stalin resulted in five-million deaths due to the famine along with more than one million people were executed during the purge. However, in comparison to Hitler’s suicide, Stalin did achieve his personal prestige (even now) because of the victory of WWII. Also, his radical economic policies helped USSR to achieve industrialization earlier. Lastly, the end of WWII and the ideological differences led to the Cold War, which forms the main world pattern in the post-war period. In the same historical period, both Hitler and Stalin did highly controversy and evil things, some of those even have huge influences in the world
