Specific purpose: At the end of my speech the audience will be able to explain the negative effects of tobacco smoking.
I. Introduction
A. According to U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, each year, primarily because of exposure to secondhand smoke, an estimated 3,000 nonsmoking Americans die of cancer. More than 16 million people already have at least one disease from smoking. Aren’t these real facts shocking?
B. Central idea: The main purpose of my speech is to discuss the two main effects of smoking on human’s life: smoker’s health and secondhand smoke.
C. Preview Statement: In general, smoking harms nearly every organ of your body. Therefore, the first negative effect of tobacco smoking are harmful effects on the smoker’s health.

Many people are exposed to secondhand smoke, especially family members who live everyday with the smoker. There are many parents who smoke and they are not concerned about their children’s health. In fact, one of the main risk for the effects of secondhand smoke are children, since their bodies are still growing they breathe at a faster rate than adults, absorbing that damaging smoke. These circumstances can increase their risk of ear infections and asthma.
2. On the long-term effect of secondhand smoke, children who grow up with parents who smoke, they are more likely to experiment with smoking in a future.
3. Even if there no members in your family who doesn’t smoke, a child can still be exposed to secondhand smoke in many public places but you as a parent should know that you must avoid those.
III. Conclusion
A. In conclusion, I hope that you are more aware about the two main effects of tobacco smoking.
B. Smoking is a major problem in a human’s health as well as those around them. As I mentioned before, this can lead to many cancers and chronic diseases. In addition to that, it can also affect secondhand smokers’ heath, especially children.
C. Therefore, no matter how you smoke tobacco, it will always affect somehow your health, and your family
