Thomas Jefferson once said, "Determine never to be idle... It is wonderful how much we can get done if we are always doing." Working constantly can be hard. We all should try to balance work and play. Resting is not a bad thing as long as we continue to complete a task. I disagree with the quote and believe resting has a purpose as well because if we do not rest we will have a harder time staying focused, we will be stressed, and we will not get to enjoy life properly. First, if we do not rest we will have a harder time staying focused. If we are not fully focused on a task we will not be able to fulfill a task to the best of our abilities. Second, if we do not rest we will be stressed. One one occasion my father had been working twelve hour shifts in the coal mines for two weeks. He had no free time to spare. He was so agitated and stressed because of work that he did not want to spend time with neither my sister nor me. As a result of him not want it spend time wit my sister and me we then were stressed too. Third, if we do take the time to rest we will not be able to enjoy life properly. My great grandmother owned a diner once and never had the chance to spend much time with her children or grandchildren. My mother use to tell me about the times she would go and see my great grandmother and never get to speak to her for more than five minutes. My grandmother never got the chance to spend quality time with her family because she was too busy working at the diner. She could only take time off when the diner was not too busy which was hardly ever. Some people believe that if they work nonstop they will have more accomplished than everyone else.
