Understanding Karma and Reincarnation

Before we can begin to connect with a past life, we should first understand more about karma and reincarnation. So what is karma? What does karma have to do with connecting to our past lives?
I'm going to get a little technical with some background information because I think its important to truly understand just what karma and reincarnation are and how they have a direct impact on our lives.

Did you know that both Buddhism and Hinduism have been dated back almost six centuries before Christianity making them the oldest religions still in practice.
In Buddhism, its believed a person's current life is only one of many lives that will be lived. These lives stretch back before birth and into past experiences, reaching forward beyond death and into future incarnations.
The simplest way to define reincarnation is to say it is the spiritual belief for the repeating cycle of birth, life, and death. It is the idea that our souls or our spirits, after our death, can begin a new life in a new body. Our spirit does not disappear when we die, it continues on. We never stop learning and growing.
During the course of each life, our actions, or the karma we generate can determine the future destiny of each one of us. Buddha taught there is no beginning to this cycle. It continues indefinitely.
Hopefully, you can now get a better idea of what reincarnation is and how karma works in conjunction with each life we live. Eastern religions have taught us that you don't get just one life to live, you get many chances at getting it
