“When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in he has no choice but to become an outlaw.” Freedom means different things to different people. For some people, it means you have the freedom to go for a walk without getting the police called on you. For some it may mean practicing the religion they choose, or where they work or live. A historical well-known example of freedom is when Rosa Parks sat in front of the bus she was asked to go to the back she refused to.
Freedom is a type of living that everyone in the world would appreciate having. Some people live in a communist country or a country where freedom do not exist and everything is controlled by the government. With many rules and regulations proposed by the government, people feel that it takes away from their freedoms. Nonetheless, America was established upon freedom, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. People want to live this way along with protection from danger.
Isn’t freedom suppose to mean the power to have the right to act, speak, or think as one wants without restraint. But that’s not true. Freedom is precious to us because, not everyone has freedom which everyone
A lot of people take freedom for granted. Some might not even realize that they have freedom! But freedom is not something you get, you have to work for it. You have to put a lot of components and time into gaining freedom. Freedom is a privilege that you have to work for.
In John A. Salmond’s intriguing book My Mind Set on Freedom, he brings to light the hardships of the African American people during a movement that evidently shaped the future for a progressing country. Based on the fight for freedom in the heart of the Civil Rights Movement, Salmond thrusts you into an epic battle that occurred for the oppressed African American race in America. Salmond’s main theme throughout the novel was that many great people battled the great evil of slavery/oppression, and waged an inevitable battle of triumph. “ Nevertheless, the years between 1955 and 1968 saw the movement at its zenith, and it transformed the South and cleansed the nation of a great moral evil.”(162). In his viewpoint, Salmond explains the many occasions of racism throughout the South, and concedes their impact on the Civil rights movement; both good, and bad.
The word freedom itself has different synonyms there’s independence, self-government, self-determination, self-rule, democracy, these words mean the same thing “the power/right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint, but too much freedom has its limits. You can’t break the law to have freedom, people might disagree to that statement and say “Harriet Tubman broke the law to be free”, but you have think in that time Harriet Tubman was not thinking about the law, in mind she didn’t think the she was breaking the law; yes she was scared that she might get caught all she thought was she was doing the right thing for herself and her family. We kids now use the word “freedom” in the wrong way. We use it in a way where
See many people have their own perspectives on what freedom is, teens for example. Kids may see freedom as a way of getting away from their parents as well as being able to do what they want to. Adults may be similar
Freedom is the ability to love whomever we want, It is when you give without expecting a favor, It is the power to forgive when you've been mistaken, it is the capability to do right without being proud of it. To me Freedom is America, Freedom is the 13 horizontal stripes and the 50 stars waving in the wind, and finally Freedom is for everyone to be equal, yet different in his or her own way. Freedom to me is America, as simple as that. On July 4th, 1776 America gained freedom from Great Britain, for this is one of the most important dates in American history.
Freedom is the ability to do whatever one wants without restraint. Many people in our country take freedom for granted, while many suffer from the lack of freedom in other countries. Freedom is when you choose all of your actions, which is what was meant for everyone. Making choices of your own is how you learn and grow. When you are in a position without freedom, somebody withholds it.
Freedom Freedom is something that you get when you're born in America. You have the right to marry who you want to marry and do what you want to do. Freedom is something our troops fight for and they give their lives for the word freedom. With freedom you have the freedom of religion the freedom of speech and the freedom to the press, freedom of assembling, freedom of petition you have the right to bear arms you have the right to not quarter soldiers in your house you have the right to equal justice and the freedom to own private property that no one can trespass on you have the freedom to live and travel anywhere is our nation, freedom to work at any job that you can qualify for, also the freedom to marry and raise a family, the freedom to
Vice President Joe Biden recently proclaimed to an on looking audience, “It’s mean spirited, it’s petty, and it’s gone on for much too long. I don’t believe, like some do, that it’s naive to talk to Republicans. I don’t think we should look at Republicans as our enemies. They are our opposition. They are not our enemies.”
The main idea of freedom is to be respectful and helpful to the community. Freedom is not endless. Freedom should be limited in some circumstances for the benefits of the community. You can't just do whatever you want just saying that “I have freedom.” We can’t kill people, do things illegally.
Many people use the word “free” but they don’t know the true meaning of being “free”. The meaning of “being free” is enjoying the personal rights and the liberty that your country gives, different countries have different rules and some don’t even have much freedom or none at all of their citizens. Some examples of being “free” is having the right to have an education, and having the right to speak up for what you believe in. A story that I have read that connects with the statement free is, “Speech at the United Nations” by, Malala Yousafzai. This story connects with the word free because Malala wanted to have an education but where she lives women are not allowed to have an education or there will be consequences, Malala stood up for herself
Never in my life have I been asked this question but after reading the first week’s lectures, it is becoming clear to me. Liberty means I am not a slave, I am free. Liberty means I can make my own decisions, express my points of view, beliefs and opinion. My definition of slavery is simply put as: personal property or belonging to someone else. Liberty means I am not a slave of the government
In 1787, our founding father’s agreed to write a list of principals for keeping people free. Freedom must be limited. People can not just say they are free. You can not just kill or violate just for freedom. There should be respect for people’s wants and needs.
