What is meant by your textbook authors' statement: Differentiated instruction is a logical companion to universal design for learning”? Give examples. First, let’s look at the definitions of both differentiated instruction and universal design.
Differentiated instruction focuses on different strategies to be used. These different strategies might include things such as grouping children in teaching environments that are flexible. Stations and centers that focus on learning are important strategies. Another strategy involves having two educational instructors in the same classroom which for the most part consists of a teacher and a teachers aid. Differentiated instruction can be looked at as a flexible way of educating that a teacher puts together and uses. It also includes the different approaches used to provide comfortable processes that focus on learning. In other words, we can say that this type of instruction focuses on learning styles, measures that are practical, ways to provide strategies that work, and tools that can be used for evaluating children. They have a hard time completing tasks and also understanding and following directions. It also takes them a longer period of time to process information. It is hard to get them to listen to what is being said. They tend to become distracted often and this causes them to not be capable of finishing tasks. They tend to get bored easily which causes them to lose focus. They tend to be very forgetful. Many times they will lose things that are needed to complete tasks. They also miss details and this often leads to careless mistakes being made. They have a hard time finishing homework that is mentally challenging. When it comes to organizing activities they have problems (Hall,
