What Is My Aphorism

One of the aphorisms that speaks the most to me was, "Accept what you are able to do and what you are not able to do." (Albom,18). This one spoke out to me the most because I am constantly complaining about what I can't do. I never think about the good things in me. Rather I just feel terrible for not being able to do certain things. An anecdote that I have is actually from the marine biology trip. It was an afternoon right after we had all finished doing our rotations. I was sitting in the top deck of the boat, alone. I always focus on the bad side of things. You could say I'm a pessimist. But, I figured that I can do many things. My friends and family say that I have a good singing voice. I also have a great passion for dancing and acting. I love to write stories and share them with other people. So if I were to try to I sore someone with my words, I would tell to focus on the good side of life because the glass is half full. The other aphorism that spoke the loudest to me was ".....if you really want it, then you'll make your dream happen." (Albom,47). When I read this one I thought of the movie The Princess and the Frog. Tiana worked really hard to make her dream come true, and in the end, she opened up her restaurant which had been her dream. I have many dreams. But some of them may be harder to accomplish. Why? My family's economic position right now is not the best. Thanks to so many generous and kind people I come to SSJ, if it weren't for them I wouldn't be here. But, if I really want to achieve something, I can't rely on money.
