Sabriana Cretella Sociology – Section 202 Professor Granata September 15th 2015 Ideology is an individual’s beliefs system. Family, education, friends, religion, culture, and media are all examples of where your ideology came from. Growing up, I had amazing parents. They always guided me in the right direction, and they always taught me what I needed to know in life, about life, and what to expect in life. Therefore, most of my ideology in life came from my parents. I also got a lot of my ideology from media and education. Much of my life was based around a television. My family constantly had the news playing, and I was very interested in what was going on at around the age of thirteen. I also had a great history teacher in high school who …show more content…
Two main social issues consist of abortion and marijuana. Abortion has been very overrated between the left wing and the right wing. In a situation like this, I am more on the left wing than the right. I am pro-choice! Sexual activity is happening at a very young age in my generation, and it is being accepted at this age as well, so mistakes are going to happen. If a woman is not financially stable or mentally not ready to have a child, then don’t have that child. I would rather see an unborn baby get neglected than a newborn risk being in an orphanage for years, or if the mother decides to keep the baby, she is not able to feed him or her every day. Especially if a woman is raped, they should not be held responsible for something that was not their choice. A woman should be allowed to get rid of something that could potentially ruin her life. The only thing that makes me lean on the right side is if you are longer than three months pregnant, then I feel that you should not get an abortion. Females are quick to find out they are pregnant by one skipped period, and they should know by at least month two of conception if you are able to keep the baby or …show more content…
Marijuana is a natural plant that is grown in the ground with no chemicals or synthetics. However, I only support medical marijuana. There is no reason for someone to be smoking marijuana for “fun.” For example, my mom had stage 3 ovarian cancer around the time when chemotherapy was so powerful. She would throw up about eight to ten times a day. She would smoke a little bit the morning, and it reduced her nausea to about two to four times a day. My boyfriend has Tourette’s, and when and if he smoked, it relaxed all his muscles in his body reducing his twitching and muscle spasms. If I had to choose a sociologist, I would pick an interactionist sociologist. interactionists are interested in how people talk through their body language, gestures and eye contact. A good example is lying. I chose this type of sociologist because I can detect a liar just by someone’s eyes. If they are looking you and they do not wander their eyes, they are probably telling the truth. If they get defensive with their hands, they could be lying. The most common way to see if someone is lying is smiling. If someone is very shaky, they can be lying. All these signs can determine how we
