The German gun positions were not aimed towards the sea, but coastline. However, they had Hitler’s Atlantic Wall to rely on. As they were approaching the shore, the Canadians were bombarded with weapons and heavy artillery, which was more deadly when the troops landed. Although the wars were very similar the wars did have a difference, world war one was more wester v.s. world war 2 which was more global. In world war 1 the war was fought in europe and most of the countries that were involved in world war 1 were in europe. Most other countries just helped out. In a picture of the rhineland it shows that the war was fought with france, germany, United Kingdom, and Holland.(doc 5) While in world war 2 way more countries not located in europe joined the war. The Battle of Midway, fought in June 1942, marked a crucial moment in World War II as the US Navy delivered a stunning blow to the Japanese fleet. The United States destroyed Japan’s first-line carrier with most of its best-trained naval pilots. This battle was fought between the US and Japan. America won because they were courageous from beginning to end, cracked the Japanese code, and were very prepared. This battle was a pivotal turning point in WWII that not only marked the Japanese naval power but also signified the strategy of naval intelligence and air power by the United States, leading to allied victories in the Pacific and ultimately the defeat of Japan.
Starting with the Battle of Baltimore. This battle was fought on land and sea. British ships entered the Harbor because of a previous blockade that was secured earlier in the war. Their advantage of the sea gained them access to the Chesapeake Bay. They planned to destroy one of the busiest ports in America and try to force peace.

The United States and the Soviet Union were super powers with tension that stayed beneath the surface for the duration of the war. The two were in a race to invent and use the first atomic war head. After ten years of war the conditions of Japan were poor and not likely to withstand much more conflict. Yet on December 7, 1941 the Japanese bombed an American naval base in Hawaii.
Hitler was the main aggressor during 1939 who everyone appeased to, who is infamously known for his rise to power, his persecution of Jews, and his attacks on the world to dominate, that killed so many. Neville Chamberlain, the British Prime Minister, believed in the policy of appeasement and appeased Hitler at the Munich Conference which eventually lead to the start of World War II. The Western Powers responded to aggression with appeasement, and in 1939 the world was plunged into World War II, proving to the world that collective security is a better response to aggression. World War II had many outcomes, but not all of them affect the world today. Part of the outcomes that do affect the world today are affecting the world in different ways, for example the cold war, war crimes, division of Germany. One of the most important ones is the creation of UDHR (Universal Declaration of Human Rights), but one can argue that the most important one is is the creation of Israel. Israel is very impactful today as it affects the world politically, economically and socially, and the UDHR is supposed to prevent discrimination, slavery, and inequality. The UDHR was formed on December 1948, (History of the Document) three years after the war ended.
Being a woman or an african american in the years of 1941-1945 was a harsh thing. Imagine being a woman and going to work, and you want to go home and rest but you can’t because you have to clean the house and take care of your family. Or being an African American and being segregated when they are working. But also being a Latino and getting benefits from the G.I Bill. An event that led up to the entrance and involvement of the United States in World War II was the Great Depression.
Canadian sailors, soldiers and airmen played an especially key role in the invasion of Normandy. This bloody campaign had the purpose of liberating Western Europe from Nazi occupation. Around 14000 Canadian soldiers were deployed at Juno Beach for the battle, the royal Canadian army also contributed 110 ships and around 10000 sailors were also deployed, 15 fighter squadrons were also deployed for the assault. These troops did heavy damage towards the enemy and helped shorten their troops and their artillery, which helped immensely towards the allied forces' efforts. The Canadian forces worked tirelessly during this battle, and with this came a great sum of causalities.
WWI (1914-1918) was a disastrous conflict between two sides - the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. It resulted in the victory of the Allies. There were plenty of Central Powers weaknesses, the Schlieffen plan, weak allies of Germany and their hard economic situation at the end of the WWI. However, it was not only due to these weaknesses, Allied Powers had a few strengths, that made them won. The most important of these are : greater army, control of the sea and support of the USA since 1917, while Germany was already running out of supplies and soldiers.
World War II is said to be the worst conflict in human history. About fifty to eighty million people died all together. There were concentration camps run by the Germans and there were essentially two wars raging. The two wars were the war in Europe and the war in the Pacific, which was Japan against the United States. World War II went on for six years and would destroy more land and property around the world and kill more people than any other war before.

There are a a lot of events that led to the beginning of World War II. But, a lot of the events leading to World War II were a direct result due to World War I. One event leading to World War II started with Hitler rising to power in the 1930s, as he was trying to rebuild Germany. As Germany, was crippled due to World War I and the Treaty of Versailles. Germany was crippled due to World War I and the Treaty of Versailles because Germany lost the war, had to take responsibility, and pay a large amount of money. This caused Germany to be in a turmoil.
