Marks and Spencers The name of Marks and Spencers policy is ‘Plan A’. The original policy was set up in 2007, but they have recently re-launched as ‘Plan A 2020’. Plan A 2020 includes over 100 new commitments to achieve. The main aim of the policy is to become the ‘world's most sustainable major retailer’. They have a number of projects helping countries all over the world to save energy [1]. One example would be ‘a carbon reduction project that uses agricultural waste as a source of renewable energy. This project is based in Wuhe County in China [2]. Another example is in Basa Magogo, a project in which they teach South African communities a new technique to ignite their fires, this shows them more fuel efficient ways of cooking and heating [3]. And a third example is the ‘Bandirma and Tekirdag wind power projects. The funding goes towards two projects. ‘The smaller of the two projects, consists of only five turbines and is able to supply approximately 52,000 MWh of clean energy every year to the national grid. And in Tekirdag, its fifteen wind turbines are able to supply 95,000 MWh of energy, which is enough electricity to power up to 95,000 homes’ …show more content…
