The Innocence Of Adnan Syed Adnan Syed was wrongfully convicted of a murder he did not do and there is no physical evidence he actually committed the murder. Some background on the case is that Hae Min Lee was Murdered in Baltimore in 1999 and was found several days after she went missing. The person who was convicted was Adnan Syed. The case had no physical evidence that he committed the murder but was arrested because he was the last known boyfriend. Also the case is going up to a retrial sometime later this year into next year. On the case of Adnan Syed he is an innocent man who was wrongfully convicted. For the first piece of evidence showing that Adnan is guilty for the murder of Hae Min Lee. This is something Jay said years after his sentencing; “From the way he carried himself, at least, it looked like he had never lost anything before. And it was really hard for him to deal with being on the losing end. In that situation, he was the loser. And people were starting to find out he was a loser “ ‘Oh, you and Hae aren’t together anymore. She got a new boyfriend?’ And he didn’t know how to deal with that”(Cooper 19). How this disproves the original claim of Adnan being innocent is because this Jay talking about what would have been Adnan’s motive of the murder of Hae Min Lee. Which is reliable because he has never gone through something rough like the break up like Jay said but with him dealing with this and Hae getting a new boyfriend this definitely would have put him over and killed Hae. For the second quote this is from the serial podcast itself. This is when the police get an anonymous call saying; “The random call said that Adnan told a friend that if Hae ever hurt Adnan that he would drive her car into a lake”(Koenig Episode 4). How this disproves the claim is because he is talking about how he would hurt Hae and ironically according to Jay’s first testimony he said that Adnan first showed him Hae’s dead body at this cliff that had a lake at the bottom
