Serial Podcast Evaluation The investigation lead by Sarah Koenig throughout the Serial Podcast effectively displays the inconsistencies in Jay Wild’s testimony while also providing other details, such as inaccurate call logs and lack of evidence, that convey how Adnan Syed was wrongfully convicted for the murder of Hae Min Lee. The audience is given different versions of Jay’s testimony regarding where and how Adnan allegedly murdered Lee throughout the various episodes of Serial. Within the episodes, the testimony changes frequently from small details to large, significant events. In Episode 4 entitled “Inconsistencies”, the drastic discrepancies between Jay’s various testimonies are finally revealed. First, Koenig even admits that, “Jay is the biggest mystery of this whole case to me.” (“Inconsistencies”). In other words, the variances in Jay’s stories and unreliable recollections make it extremely difficult for anyone to figure out what happened the day Lee was murdered. Near the end of Episode 4, Koenig begins to reveal the inconsistencies in detail. Koenig uncovers to the audience Jay’s stories have shifted six times throughout the investigation in 1999.
