Kingsford Charcoal is a market leader in their industry which is no easy feat and staying on top of the marketplace is a hard-tougher task. With new store brand competitors and other competitors like Match Light (just light the bag) products makes for a competitive environment. As a Kingsford Charcoal representative, I would focus my strategy future products/services, my competitors & new startups, and on exceeding customer expectations. First, Kingsford Charcoal company would “lock in” our customer base by improving or exceeding our customer needs, wants, and expectations, which in return would turn them into a loyal customer base. I would also focus and invest in providing all the supportive services/items that consumers using charcoal may need. Providing a free lighter and/or gasoline or by providing a free YouTube channel and/or cook book with recipes would be starting points to exceeding customers’ expectations. …show more content…
Being able to see the future landscape and how your competitors plan to move in action will help any company better understand what and where they need to focus their energy. Kingsford Charcoal should have already known about Match Lights (just light the bag) product and should have been ready to react smartly to this product development. Startups are great avenues to watch within industries, they tend to be outside the box in concept or provide a improvement to an already existing product/service. Watching these young startups and helping them develop would allow Kingsford Charcoal to be aware of new trends and/or technological advancements in the charcoal industry. Kingsford Charcoal could use startups in a concept like how Google purchased YouTube, they may not fit into the company’s direction, but they may add value to the company’s overall
