April 6, 2023 The Art Of Music Shifting Identity Through Lives
The Oxford language defines identity as "the fact of being who or what a person or thing is" However, to me, it means much more than that.
When the word identity comes to mind, we typically think of what one looks like, whom they surround themselves with, how they dress, or their culture. The word itself has many meanings as its interpretation is subjective and is determined by what an individual surrounds themselves with and what they believe to be true about themselves. He was sitting down after, wondering what kind of art and poetry just left a speaker. In "The Butterfly Effect: How Kendrick Lamar Ignited the Soul of Black America," the in detail story of the song "DUCKWORTH" is explained. There was a man named Ducky who had recently moved to Los Angeles in order to survive. He got a job at the nearby KFC, and he knew a man named Top Dawg had robbed that location a year ago and that Top Dawg was involved in gang bang. So Ducky would sneak in extra free food for Top Dawg to remain safe allies and not get robbed. James had a love for playing the saxophone when James's life took a decisive turn afterward. He would smoke weed, hang out with men playing instruments, and smoke. Music had a significant effect on him, yet, it was not what made the switch for him. It was when he realized his culture and what he surrounded himself with that made the change for him. He had been warned by the chicken man what would happen if he did not change. He later looked for guidance from the Lord, asking the Lord to help him. The Lord later showed him his future as the years went on. A few chapters later, James's family moved away to Delaware. As they were living in Delaware, James became increasingly involved in jazz. He has sponsored a trip to Europe with a jazz group. Seeing how much James wanted to have a future in music, he applied to Oberlin College in Ohio, unsure, knowing his test scores still needed to improve. He was an intellectual in music. We see how God connects James through music in many ways leading him to his future, knowing that it is a place he feels most himself as music is something that helped James through it all, helping him find his true peace. I find my peace in music, whether listening to a worship
