The overall message of Shane Koyczans's “ We are More “ is about how Canadians are more than just one thing. We are more than just our landscapes or stereotypes, we are extraordinary pieces of a big puzzle all with unique ideas,big dreams and millions of voices. “ But we are more then genteel or civilized.“ This line in the poem is referring to the stereotype that Canadians are all genteel and civilized without the ability to be angry,rude or even grumpy. And while there is some truth to this stereotype, Canadians are still human beings who have bad days, say rude things and wake up grumpy. “ we are more than just hockey and fishing lines. “ One of the major things Canada is known for is it’s peoples love of hockey.
