Brothers are bonded by blood, but that doesn't mean they are the same. Erik Fischer and Paul Fischer are siblings in the book Tangerine by Edward Bloor, but they are not the same. Erik’s choices affect the development of the main character, Paul. This is shown when Erik spray-paints Paul in the face as a child, Commanding Arthur Bauer to hit Luis on the head with a blackjack, and when he slapped Tino across the face.4444 A major choice In Tangerine by Edward Bloor is when we see that Erik Fischer impairs his brother's vision by spraying him in the eyes with spray paint when he was 5. Paul says, “I remember Erik’s fingers prying my eyelids open while Vincent Castor sprayed white paint into them” (Bloor 263). Erik's choice to blind his brother has caused emotional damage and physical damage to Paul. 4444 Choices made by Erik in Tangerine by Edward Bloor can significantly impact Paul and other people. We see this in the second choice Erik made when he ordered Arthur Baeur to hit Luis with a blackjack. “Arthur reached Luis, turned, and whipped the blackjack around with a loud whack against the side of Luis's head.”(Bloor 211)When Luis is killed by the head trauma by the blackjack causing a brain aneurysm to burst, killing him. Paul is upset over the loss of a friend but his guilt for not saying anything about him getting him is the worst for him. This all goes to show that the choices that Erik made effects Paul greatly. 4444 The final choice that Erik made, that impacted Paul was when Erik slapped Pauls's friend, Tino across the face.
