“The End of Crisis” by Cindy Juyoung Ok, is a poem that expresses the trauma around the problems of our world. It tells of the issues that occur and that we are doing nothing to solve them. If we don’t start taking a look at the problems we have made soon and try fixing the trauma we have caused, then we will have caused our own downfall. We are only running from our demons. This poem highlights the trouble we have caused, using an apocalyptic appeal to really express the real trouble we have caused and the trouble we are in. We should not count on the help of others to solve our own problems. Our world is dying and we are just standing around watching it fall, we should all work together to try and lift it back up again. It expresses many emotions within the words. It explores the author's feelings of the world around her and the problems that surround us all. The way this poem explains the world gives it a lyrical and soft flow while talking about our own downfall. An example from the poem of this would be, “When I follow the fallen saplings’ directions toward the horizon where colorless sky and earth meet.” (10-12) Within these hidden words it expresses how following broken things can only lead to more disaster, you have to look at the good in things. Following those broken things only weighs you down more and leads to pain. Surround yourself in good. This shows a lyrical form because of the way it is written and it flows like lines to a song. Another example of this from the poem would be, “When I crawl through the highway pieces shattered by heat.” (4-5) In this line she is creating a sense of powering through her problems and fighting for her life to be the way she wants.
