Terri Baptiste December 6, 2016 PSC 203-04 Harriet Beecher Stowe, Uncle Tom’s Cabin is a novel that an impact on American civil war, it discusses the facts about slavery by showing the raw truth. The author Harriet Beecher Stowe inspired Americans to take sides on slavery. The novel changed how Americans think about slavery, they were able see the untold true. It also forces the united states to for fill their promise on freedom and equality. The main point of the Novel was to prove that African American’s are equal to any other race, they have feelings. During the time that the book was written, it was acceptable for white plantation owner and slave owner to think of black people as less than equal. When a slave was sold auctioneers and sellers felt like separating mothers and children was a great idea because they couldn’t really real the pain of losing someone because they’re not white. Uncle Tom a black man, he is honest and intelligent. Mr. Shelby uncle Tom’s master assign him the responsibility with many of the dealings in his house, he trusts uncle tom so much that he made him take large sums of money for business trips. These business trip would have been a great opportunity for him to escape but, uncle tom always found his way back home he could never break Mr. Shelby trust like that; running away with his master’s money. One way that Harriet Stowe’s religious impact the story is this situation is similar to the story in the bible when Joseph was enslaved in Egypt.
