What Occurred During The Renaissance

In the twelfth century the rebirth of Greco- Roman culture was going on in northern and southern Italy. People were breaking away from the Catholic Church and starting to think for themselves and discovering ideas for themselves. During this time a lot of artists were introduced such as Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo. Along with these artists came Christine de Pizan who was a writer during the renaissance. The early renaissance in the twelfth century eventually led to the humanist movement in the fourteenth century. During this time little republics started to pop up in Italy and it was becoming harder for the Emperors to actually control them and keep them in line and at peace with each other. This was not so easy because at the same time people were trying to overthrow the church because of many reasons.

The black plague counteracted these sayings because High-Church officials were dying from the horrid disease and it made the people frantic and worried. They would think that the devil had become apart of their church and thought no one was safe. People started to actually think for themselves and realize that they had a big impact on the way they thought and how they acted and the outcomes of many scenarios. The power of the church declined as Monarchies started to arise and create city-states with centralized governments. This rise led to more money for the city-states to create armies and an improved style of living. Since all these new ideas were gallivanting around Italy many people were influenced just like Christine de Pizan who opted to write about what she believes is a perfect world for most renaissance
