Throughout the course of the last year, the political climate around the citizens of the United States – as well others around the world who were affected – became exceedingly politically charged. The country and its people were faced with a deep and complicated partition. Directly derived from the 2016 United States presidential election, political messages had become common place throughout all forms of media. From television shows, music, and the most apparent being news outlets, the population was continuously exposed to political ideals of different groups, as well as debates against their own. Even so, there have been countless times when political messages are not as apparent or as direct.

The election of 1948 was the 41st Presidential election in the United States. The two frontrunners for each party were President Harry S. The 2016 Presidential election has seen all political norms cast aside. Bernie Sanders, a far left self-proclaimed democratic socialist, and Donald Trump, a real-estate mogul and reality T.V. Star, have changed how elections will be conducted for the foreseeable future. Both candidates appeal to voters who are distraught with the Washington insiders’ inability to accomplish their goals. Trump, by the self-funding of his campaign, and Sanders, by his consistent denouncing of super PAC's, have fought to change corrupt election financing. "Feeling the Bern" has become the new trend among millennials who are enthusiastic about Sanders economic policies.
As each state could regulate their own laws, many southern states took to systemically disadvantaging black people and allowing white supremacy to prevail. Unfourtantely, these elections have also caused intense violence across the country, especially recently. The 2020 U.S. presidential election caused many election administrators distress over death threats, online radicliation, the circulation of white supermacist ideas, and most notably, the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. All of these attacks can be attributed to how terrifying loyal America citizens are to their political parties. The future of democracy in America seems bleak.
Every election in United States history has had its impact, but the elections that are during and soon after wars are usually more significant than the others. Between 1865 and 1872, the American Civil War and its ideals have not yet fully left the hearts of many citizens, both in the north and the south. But, after the election of 1872, the mentality shifts from that of the past, to the promise of the future. Because of the election of 1872, the United States embraced new ideas and new figures in the American political system. By 1872, all of the previously seceded states have rejoined the Union, but there were still controversies over the future of the United States.
While the fraudulent leadership was not what destroyed the movement, it caused people to turn their focus away from the problems that were relevant to the Southern half of the nation. Long and Short-Term Effects of the 1992 Election on American Social, Political, and Economic Livelihoods The 1992 election was a significant piece of American history. For the first time in decades a third party candidate was able to capture significant momentum towards capturing the electorate in the form of Ross Perot. Campaigning strategies unseen since Roosevelt by Democrat Bill Clinton re-captured the complex New Deal Coalition. Finally, the election was even coined “Year of the Woman” by many due to the massive uptick in women running for congress in a new feminist movement. The 1992 election was significant because it led to radical change within the electorate and promoted new directions for the United States politically.
In my paper, I will analyse Donald Trump’s political activities before and after the election to get an objective viewpoint of America’s President. We’ll start off with the history of Trump, both personal and political, to see whether there was some sort of significant development over the years indicating a tendency towards ‘good or evil’. Next, we will take a look at what Donald Trump promised to do – the wall, lowering taxes and repealing Obamacare to name a few – and evaluate if he managed to keep his election pledges. This success rate is a major factor in definitively assessing Trump’s influence on America.
