1. What would you say is the main theme of the Bible?
I agree with Bickel, Jantz (1998) who wrote “In the great drama of human history, God has written Himself into the plot. He did it 2000 years ago when He came to earth in the Person of His Son, Jesus Christ” (p.965)
The main theme of the bible, is what I call the spiritual geneology of the second Adam. From the beginning (Genesis) we see him for shadowed and then mentioned by the prophets. We follow the vine of Jesus birth and victory on cross and end with the branches of his disciples and the fruit His death seeded.
2. Have you ever considered the Bible from this perspective before? Explain why or why not.
I have always looked at the bible through the lense of Jesus. I can’t tell you why, but for as long as I can remember, Jesus has been the overlay for every scripture I ever read. I believe this must be Holy Spirit who “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide, you into all truth:…”(Johm 16:13, King James Version).

How can understanding this big picture help you as you seek to apply scripture to course content?
In Luke 24:25-27 Jesus is referenced as saying:
Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. (King James Version)
By understanding the theme of the bible, we in turn will understand Jesus better.
