“ When breath becomes air ” by Paul Kalanithi is not only just a book but is also Paul’s sorrow story. Paul Kalanithi wrote this story throughout the rough unstable time of his life. Kalanithi is a very strong man looking for a reason to continue and remain strong; although he feels that he lost everything. Paul realizes that his life has a lot of value. Paul also doesn’t let anything interfere with life no matter how difficult things get. Kalanithi is struggling yet accepting of that fact that he is suffering from terminal lung cancer. Paul Kalanithi lives his life very slowly, day by day not taking a single thing in life for granted knowing that his days are very limited.

Paul and his wife decide to have a child, Kalinthi quotes in his story Lucy said “ will having a newborn distract you from the time we have together?” Lucy asked Paul “don’t you think saying goodbye to your child will make your death more painful?” Paul and Lucy strongly felt that life wasn’t about suffering. In the quotes Paul explains that life is very short, and having a kid was a happy decision he made. Less than a year later he would be gone but he didn’t care about the circumstances. Paul and Lucy believed that there would be more difficult choices to make than having a child such as; chemo,te end of his life decisions, health treatments, They never knew Paul’s death Bed would be so near. Only twenty two months ago they received the devastating diagnosis, and only eight months earlier, the birth of their daughter arrived. Lucy will always be reminded of Paul and will always have something to cope with , with the baby. Paul delivers a very bold message to all of his readers that “fate is to die” and there is no age limit to death. We cannot deny this fact that death will eventually happen but can happen sooner than expected. And most may not get any warning that death is approaching
